Balaton

In celebration of the end of the semester, we decided to go to Balaton for a relaxing weekend by the lake. After a short train ride, we arrived at a beautiful house in a quiet, serene neighbourhood. We spent the evening watching the sunset over the marsh and cooked up some juicy discount meat over the bonfire. We also roasted marshmallows over the fire- Misi described the taste of it as burning plastic, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it! The next day, we spent the morning trying to find a sandy beach, but apparently they don’t exist in Hungary. We settled on tanning and swimming by the port, but got kicked off the pier and had to relocate ourselves to the marsh. Koffi joined us that evening and biked over 60 kilometers to find us! We spent the rest of the night sitting by the fire and enjoying each other’s company. It was the perfect way to end off a wonderful semester of Erasmus with TF!

Hogyan keszülj fel Erasmus/ How to get ready for Erasmus?

Turkish flag, t-shirts, Turkish Delights by rose flavor, smiling face , opss! keys of my flat, nevermind! Here we go! At last; I found the first opportunity to meet Erasmus community of TF through this event after all the bustle of settlement to Budapest. Let’s realize how was the event and aims of it ?

Basically; Promoting future’s Erasmus! As I frequently feel the benefits of Erasmus by the first experience in Latvia, ı decided to attend to this event without second thought to promote my schoolmates and I believe we all did good job to encourage them! Programme has been started along with ‘’Introduction to Erasmus’’.. In this regard; our friendly coordinator Julie took the responsibility to present the application process that ı couldn’t understand because of my poor Hungarian yet.

As to the second and most enjoyable part of the event! Şşşşşş! Please, silence Ladies and Gentlemen! We are eating from all Europe! All Erasmus students has cooked specials from their cuisine. After that mmmm! I was eating crazily as much as ı forgot to present Turkish delights to students. Anyway; they found the delights and finished all of them on their own as an independent explorer of future’s Erasmus!

Let’s have look at menu of Erasmus chiefs! Here is Marga’s apples! Actually; Patatas bravas and Pastel de hojaldre with apple and red fruits which made my mouth water! Ouw! there is Kelli’s baked cookies decorated by colour of Estonian flag lovely! and the Master chief Kelli’s special: roll-cake with kamamousse.. Next one from Queens of English accents; Hilary’s and Sharon’s Macaroni and Cheese. Hey Look! There is a empty plate from Tiramisu of Sütto Kinga and Busa Andrea from Hungary which has been eaten up by human being .. Hey, Lover of snacks, Look at Eddy’s pamboli. Wait! What is it? Spread tomato, olive oil, salt, cheese, every kind of dry sausages and ham on BREAD! Ready to eat: Bon Appetit! Before the final; Gael’s ‘’Rillettes de canard au piment d'Espelette’’ which you could be full only by its royal name without even eating.. Say Hi to Nacho’s and Maria’s Tortilla de patatas. Yay! Here is coming of star of the night is Wiktoria! She came late but predict why? Cause Headliner always come later than others. Also; I think she must have spent time much to cook those glamorious, delicous, great so on…specials: Apple pie - biszkopt z jabłkami and roquettes with mushrooms - krokiety z grzybami… Thank you guys for the great specials of your countries!

After the part of the event at University! Dzzssssss! Some Beers, company, lovely coordinators and mentors, coincidences, dizziness! We went to a pub in order to adorn the night more and we absolutely did! The finale surprise of the night was to meet Antal Krajczár who was Erasmus student in Latvia at the same time and the same institution with my classmate ! I understood the value of Erasmus programme once more again at that moment! Guys! World is so small.. The only thing that makes the world huger and overrated than the normal size of it in universe is ‘’Our Small Dreams’’ on impossible. We have already broken one of those imposibilities by coming here as an Erasmus and today; we showed future’s Erasmus students the way which is going to world of possibilities by bigger dreams . . ‘’Let’s Bridge Together to make the world smaller ‘’

2nd orientation

My name is Gael Lapedagne, I am 20 years old.

I am studying STAPS (Sciences and Techniques of Sports and Physical Activities) in Bordeaux, France. I am in my third and last year of me Bachelor’s degree and specialized myself in “Education and Motor Skills”.

I arrived in Budapest at the beginning of February, like an Erasmus student, to study in the University of Physical Education for the second semester of this academic year.

The coordinators of the university organized an orientation day for the newcomers. We all met in front of the university and headed to the interior after first presentations. Sitting around the table of a big room, we proposed us of what to nibble and to drink, while explaining to us how was going to take place the semester. I felt good and I understood that I shall be followed and supported throughout the project. We offered us a multitude of objects concerning the university and the city of Budapest and, then, we walked together through the different buildings to discover them and try to remember which course happen in each one. To finish, we went to the office of our coordinator (trying to find it without her help) to take our timetables and we ate Turkish candies, brought by one of us.

New Mentors

Midling Dóra
My name is Dora Midling, I am 23 years old. I have been studying since 2012 at PE Univesity (TF), Faculty of PE teacher-and coach. I am going to finish the Bsc degree in June of 2016 . I am going to sign to the Master Degree. I want to study at the Recreation and Health Improvement Manager major of the PE University(TF) .
Currently I am working as an aerobic coach and teaching balett and I am taking part on a dancing skills development program for the new generation as a coach. I like working with both kids and aged people. I like not only working as a coach, but also organizing events. Why would I like to be part of an international team? As I have said, I want to do my master degree on the Recreation and Health Improvement Manager major. I enjoy organizing any kinds of events, especially sport events. I think long-lasting friendships could be born during these events. A good relationship always depends on two parties. The Erasmus mobility is a great possibility to get acquaintanced with the culture, the behaviour and the attitude of other countries ‘s students, and know great people. Organizing events for foreign students could be a chance for them to became more acquaintanced with our culture, cities, eating tradition, sport tradition and lot of other interesting things. It is very important that during this mentor job we are able to help foreign students how they can know new people in a foreign country, where are the places  they are not able to find. The mentor is able to advertise the country and hereby the mentor can contribute to a good image of the country. I like to work in a team or at workplace, where the people are open-minded, and happy.

Galamb Kata
My name is Kata. I’m 22 years old. I came from the western part of Hungary, from Körmend. I’m spending my third year at the University of Physical Education, currently I’m a student of human kinesiology so I’ve been living in Budapest for 3 years. I spent last semester on Erasmus in France but that wasn’t my first experience there and I’m sure, it wasn’t the last time either. In the future I would like spending more time abroad. My goal is getting as many places as I can, meeting new people, getting to know more cultures and languages. I can speak english and french so far but I’m never satisfied with my knowledge so I always want to improve myself. That’s why I’d like to spend more times abroad to have more experiences, too. For the time being, I’d like to work in rehabilition to help sportsmen being better or to ensure the best quality of life for the elders. The sport was always a part of my life in different ways: I did athletics, gymnastics but I spent the most time of my childhood in the swimming pool. Lastly I chose handball that’s the nearest to my heart because playing in a team is the most pleasant experience for me. But I love all types of sports. J
Budapest is one of the best place for me and I hope that you’ll think the same soon. I’ll do my best to familiarize and make you love this culture and make this period being the best in your life.

Juhász Benjamin
My name is Benjamin, I am 22 years old, I am studying Recreation. I will finish my BSc at this semester. I have just come back from my Erasmus from the United Kingdom. Before that, I had spent 4 months in Zagreb, in Croatia. I used to play soccer for 10 years. Nowadays I swim and do work out. I am interested in most of the sports, besides this, I like cooking, watching films, listening to music etc.. I like to work with people especially with children. Due to the fact that I have lived in abroad as a student I know how much a mentor can mean for a new incomer. Therefore I would like to help you in anything what I can, in order to make your study abroad period a great time. Feel free to contact me. Enjoy your time in Budapest.
I would like to apply to become an Erasmus mentor at our university. My name is Benjámin Juhász, I am twenty-two years old. I study Recreation at the University of Physical Education (TF). After finishing my Bachelor studies, I would like to continue my studies with Master of Sciences. I have spent 4 months in Zagreb, studying at the University of Zagreb, at the Faculty of Kinesiology and I also have spent 4 months in England next, at the University of Sunderland. The latter one was my Erasmus+ study period.
I would like to be a mentor of a foreign student in the next semester, as I have experienced how important and useful can be this support for an exchange student. Especially in the first few weeks, a mentor can help with the assimilation to go smoothly and make it as comfortable as it can be for a new incomer student. Besides this, after improving my English in the United Kingdom, I would like to keep this level, consequently it would be useful for me to talk in English again.
Furthermore, I learnt how much you can learn from people who come from a different culture. You can meet different aspects of worldview, different ways of thinking, etc. Sincerely I think the mentor program can be useful for the student and the mentor equally.
All in all, the purpose of this letter is to apply for an Erasmus mentor position. I would like to help to another student who will come to our country and our university in the following semester. I will put an effort to make the Erasmus time for him or her a pleasant experience. In addition I would like to reach to evolve a good opinion about Hungary for the foreign student.

Kurucz Anita

Hi, My name is Anita Kurucz and I'm 20 years old. I'm from Székesfehérvár, but now I live in Budapest in the hostel of our school. I am studying here in the University of Physical Education to become a great physical education teacher.
My hobbies: Of course sports. I have been doing sports since I was 3 years old, I tried myself out in different areas of sports. I played basketball for 5 years and at the same time I danced (balley and folkdance). Later I was a member of a musical studio in our capital city, too. Swimming and gymnasics are also close to my heart. Actually I'm teaching kids to swim in the swimmingpool of our university. My other love is the theatre - everything what has to do with theatre and musicals.
I consider myself an open-minden, friendly and spirited person who likes to get to know new people, get new friends.
I would be happy if I could meet you and spend time with you.
I am open to all programmes like sightseeing, enterainment, cultural programmes...whatever you would like to try out or where ever you would like to visit.

My name is Anita Kurucz, I am 20 years old, and I am from Székesfehérvár. Currently I am studying in the University of Physical Education in Budapest and I live in the hostel of our school. I am studying to become physical education teacher.
I have recently learnt about the opportunity to become a member of the erasmus mentoring group. In the past couple of months I got the chance to look into the life of a mentor, and realised how important their work is to integrate erasmus student to a new country. Based on this insight I can say that the background work of the workers, coordinators, mentors part is indispensable in the universities. I think it is really important to be associated with other countries, nations, and the Erasmus Program gives excellent opportunity for somebody to travel abroad, meet other cultures, get new friends, gain more and more experiences.
I have already met some erasmus students in different programmes. We went hiking together, and besides that I met them in bars in a couple of evenings, therefore I got the opportunity to get to know them better. However I feel it is time for me to organise programmes alone for them.
I am open to all programmes like sightseeing, entertainment, cultural programmes, whatever they would like to try out or where ever they would like to visit. I wouldn't mind to organise programmes for one person, but I think I would be able to handle a smaller team, too.
Therefore with this motivational letter I would officially like to apply for an erasmus mentor position.

Laskovics Tímea
Hello, my name is Tímea Laskovics, I’m 20 years old and I live in Budapest. I study at the University of Physical Education where I’m in my second year. After my graduation at the university, I’d like to be a Physical Education teacher, furthermore I am considering doing a massage course, because I am really interested in it. I speak English (I have learnt it for 8 years) and a little French.
As I study at a sports university I like all kind of sports, but I prefer to do sports rather than watching them. I have tried a lot of sports, for example, I used to do rhytmic gymnastics, swimming, synchronised swimming and dancing.
My hobbies are craftworking, reading and of course sports. I am also interested in psychology.

With this letter I would like to express my interest in the university’s Erasmus Student Exchange Programme and I would like to apply for the mentor position. I strongly believe that this programme will give me a lot of useful experience for my future career and plans. I would like to be a Physical Education teacher, so through this programme I could gain international experience in my country and I could broaden my mind to get acquainted with different people, cultures and teaching systems.
During my secondary school studies, I got the chance to be a participant of student exchange programmes (for example Comenius). Within the confines of these programmes, I spent several weeks abroad, so I had the opportunity to build international relations. I have learnt a lot thanks to those experiences. To begin with, I realised that international relations are significant components in our lives, because they teach us to estimate other cultural beliefs and attitudes. In addition, when it was my turn to host foreigners, I have learnt how to show them my country’s memorable sights and traditional dishes in an organised and enjoyable way.
I worked for a team building company a few years ago, where I learnt how to communicate appropriately between different age groups. Furthermore, I could improve my organising skills, because I planned and organised different team building games. Additionally, when I was a host, I organised sightseeing tours, so my organising and planning skills are quite good. In my view these skills are very important for a mentor. Some words about my inner characteristics which I also consider to be important: I am a friendly, always smiling, helpful, spirited, creative and inquisitive person. In my opinion, these skills make me suitable for the mentor position.
Thank you very much in advance for this opportunity and for considering my application. Previously I have already taken part in programmes for Erasmus students, but now I would like to be an official mentor. I am sure that this opportunity will help a lot in my future professional plans and personal development.

New semester, with new incomers

"Hi everyone! I’m Hilary and I am from Toronto, Canada. I am 21 years old, and I am in my 4th year of Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. I am a friendly and outgoing person who loves meeting new people and trying new things! I am also very active, spending most of my free time participating in physical activity. I love watching sports, especially basketball and of course, being from Canada, hockey. Besides sports, I enjoy travelling, listening to country music, and hanging out with my friends and family. "
"International exchange is an experience like no other. It is filled with learning opportunities that are not available in my native country. I am excited to explore a new country, learn new languages, meet new people and to learn more about myself along the way. By doing so, I will learn more about the culture, create lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. The skills developed, knowledge gained and challenges faced during my semester abroad will be applicable to my everyday life. I believe the “world is my classroom”, therefore learning outside of textbooks will allow me to view the world with a new perspective and incorporate "real life" experiences into my academic studies."

 Hilary from Canada

"Hey there! My name is Sharon and I will be coming to TF in February 2016. I am currently in my final year at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. My biggest hobbies are cheerleading, baking, and I'm experimenting with photography. I have been cheerleading competitively for about ten years now, and love representing my school through this sport. I also enjoy yoga and weightlifting in my own time. I can’t wait to meet you all!"

"I applied for exchange because I have always wanted to live in a country with a completely different culture than what I am used to. I actually grew up in Vancouver but decided to go to school in Toronto, even though I did not know anyone in Eastern Canada. However, my experience at school and all the people that I have met so far have been amazing, and I am expecting that my time at TF will be just as rewarding! I have traveled on my own before, but I have never lived in another country. Since I'm in Kinesiology, there are a limited number of schools that offered exchange with my university. Budapest appealed to me the most, so that is how I picked TF! I am very excited for my exchange and cannot wait to meet everyone."

Sharon from Canada

"My name is Gael. I am a twenty years-old French man, who likes sports, music, playing guitar and read.
I was born and bred in the Bask country. I have always done sports, especially in competition: like ski, tennis, surfing, rugby and swimming.
I have worked every summer for three years now on the beaches of my municipality, Saint Jean de Luz, as a lifeguard (rescuer).
I like this job for the social contact and because for me, it’s important to do whatever I can to help people. Also, I have to work regularly to pay for my studies and to travel the world with friends or by myself.
I currently study in Bordeaux to become a teacher in Physical Education. Last May, I taught in a school for a month to learn about different aspects of teaching. It was a very good and interesting experience that confirmed my decision.
Now, I have to progress in English because I want to speak with people clearly worldwide and be able to teach in English. I also want to know different cultures, meet new people, move in Europe to know her better, compare some countries and the educative systems. Finally, my financial situation does not allow me to travel or study without a scholarship. I have studied hard to come this far and being able to study in Budapest would mean a lot to me and encourage me to go further in my studies."

I am studying STAPS (Sciences and Techniques of Sports and Physical Activities) in Bordeaux, France. I am in my third and last year of me Bachelor’s degree and specialized myself in “Education and Motor Skills”.
I would very much like to study in your university for the second semester of this academic year. I have discussed my project with the Erasmus coordinator of my university and he strongly supports this application.
For the following reasons:
First of all, I definitely want to do a Master’s degree next year and I need to improve my English for I will probably have to teach in this language. Also, I think that English is very important nowadays to communicate and exchange with people around the world.
Second, and this is the reason why I have chosen your university, is that a friend studied there, that helped him to succeed in Master’s degree next year.
Third, I truly believe that this year abroad will benefit me personally. I have never been to Hungary and I do not know about Central Europe and it’s culture. It will be such a great opportunity to discover it.

Gael from France

Hi everyone!I am Yusuf TURGAY.I have been living in Izmir for over 24 years. It takes place west part of Turkey.I study at Ege Universty and my field is Physical Education and Sports Teaching. That's my third year here.I had taken courses about logistics during two years before I started to my current universty. When I was studying at my previous universty,I was taking my tennis equipments in order to play tennis in my spare times. That's why I had left the logistics department to start a new career which I love.I am a tennis freak.I have been playing tennis for over 14 years. It is not only a kind of sports but also a life style for me.My purpose is that to coach professional tennis players.I have also interested in sports medicine for a long time.It would be a challenge to study in this field but I will try my best.I would like to focus on only one field at the beginning but in future,I'm open to many challenges.

This programme provide me the education which will enhance my career initially.I am so excited that I will come to Budapest for six months. Before my acceptance to your university, some of my professors recommended me studying in your university.University of Physical Education seemed as the best option among the others.I attended to International Education Fair in October,2015 and I tried to obtain informations about the universities in Hungary. Before my arrival, eventually I will gather all related informations about your university.I imagine Budapest,it is nice and historic city.I already got some documents such as film, book in order to find out Budapest history, culture and traditions.I look forward to visiting this beautiful city and meet my fellow students.

Yusuf from Turkey

Hello! My name is Berkcan. I’m 21 years old and I come from ‘’the pearl of the Aegean: İzmir, Turkey.‘’ I am in the 3rd class of P.E and Sports Teaching at Ege University. As to my life, hobbies, personal characteristics… I can’t imagine a life without sport. In this context; I can say that I love doing different kinds of sports more. The sport love of me started with basketball when I was 8 years old. However; I was indecisive between playing football and basketball till 14 and I changed my branch as football at the end of this process. Although; I focused on academic life more than practical area of sports with beginning of university, I am still attached to do sports as I am currently playing ‘’Lacrosse’’ on goalie position at İzmir Warriors LC. I am working as Social Media Secretary of the club too. Apart from university and sport; I like reading, meeting friends, discovering different kind of activities, places, cultures. I am nature and animal lover too and I believe that one of the self-actualization way is to found a life independently in nature, out of urban life . Besides, It is going to be my second Erasmus and where I went for first one is Riga, Latvia, last year. This experience definetly changed and contributed me in point of being social, being participating and vocational skills. That’s why I applied to Erasmus+ without a second thought once more again. Finally; I’d like to finish my letter by quoting from St. Augustine: ‘’The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.’’ -Let’s read one more page of the world in Budapest all together!

"Can Maths measure how much value of time is ? I found the answer through Erasmus. I was born in 1994, but officially! I assumed myself that I was really born by first Erasmus Experience one year ago in Latvia. As I said in my introduction, Erasmus contributed me a lot. Moreover; I don’t feel myself as if I was alive before Erasmus. Therefore; one can be more than 21 years for me! Based on this, the main motivation of me when I decided to apply Erasmus+ once more again was to know that second Erasmus would give me the opportunity of being reborn into the different life again.
"As to; Why did I apply to TF for second Erasmus? The answer is based on a long story from 2 years ago when I firstly applied Erasmus. Shortly; I couldn’t have come to TF because of conditions of my curriculum in Turkey, although I was selected. However; I have never forgotten dream of being in TF and Budapest and It turned into a ambition inside. Thus; I did not give up to follow it as you see! I am glad that I am going to realize this dream in February. Besides; I know that TF will contribute me a lot in my field. To clarify it; I can say that the curriculums of TF are really wide of various sports. It will give me the opportunity of improving myself in practical area and different kinda sports too. In contrast; I attended a lot of theoritical courses too much in the past. Additionally; TF has a long history and tradition in sport education from 1925 to today. Not only in Hungary but also It is one of the oldest P.E school in Europe as 3rd and TF has trained 89 of 160 gold medalist of Hungary in Olympic Games as I read. Therefore; I believe that the strong experience of TF based on its long history can provide me a qualified education in my field. Finally; Budapest is also another reason that made me decide to apply to TF, I have heard a lot of amazing things about Budapest such as cultural heritage, historical figure of city, great social life and chance of reaching all countries of Europe easily for trips thanks to location of Hungary in East Central Europe. All reasons that I referred above brings me the gate of TF. Now; I am looking forward to see what we will experience behind the gate all together!
